BICYCOVER自転車カバーのお手入れ方法

How to care for your BICYCOVER bicycle cover

Thank you for always using BICYCOVER bicycle covers.

BICYCOVER bicycle covers have a durable water-repellent finish on the front and a highly waterproof PU coating on the back. The fabric itself is very waterproof, so if rain gets in, it's usually through the seams rather than the fabric itself. In last year's update, we significantly improved water seepage through the seams by widening the overlapping direction of the fabric and the width of the waterproof tape.

Why does water repellency decrease?

With prolonged use, the water-repellent performance of the surface may gradually decrease. When the water-repellent treatment weakens, water tends to accumulate on the surface of the fabric, and if the fabric remains wet for a long time, the risk of water seepage increases. Therefore, regular maintenance is important.

Daily care to maintain water repellency

  1. Remove dirt promptly. Mud, sand, etc. can clog the water-repellent coating. After use, lightly brush or rinse with water to remove any dirt.

  2. After use, it is best to dry it in the shade in a well-ventilated place and fold it only after it is completely dry. If moisture remains, it can cause mold and unpleasant odors.

  3. Avoid direct sunlight as much as possible . If exposed to direct sunlight for a long period of time, the PU coating will deteriorate. Be careful about where you store it.

What to do if water repellency deteriorates

1. Use a water repellent spray

This method involves spraying the entire cover evenly with a water-repellent spray, similar to the one used for shoes. Bike covers have a large surface area, so be sure to use a sufficient amount. Water-repellent sprays are available at home improvement stores and outdoor equipment stores.

2. Apply heat with a hair dryer

In fact, applying heat can reactivate the water-repellent treatment, making it easier to restore its effectiveness. However, excessive heat can damage the fabric and waterproof tape, so test it on an inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire garment. Set the hair dryer to a moderate temperature, keep it at a constant distance, and heat it for short periods of time.

Tip : This hair dryer method can be used not only for bicycle covers, but also for general synthetic water-repellent fabrics (jackets, outdoor gear, etc.). However, be careful not to deform or peel off due to heat.

Other things to remember

  • Avoid washing in a washing machine. <br>Vigorous spinning can cause the water-repellent finish to deteriorate, so it is generally best to avoid this. We recommend washing parts of the garment by hand.
  • Repair small scratches and holes as soon as possible . If you find any holes or frays in the fabric, repair them as soon as possible with waterproof repair sheets or tape to minimize the risk of water seepage.
  • Store in a well-ventilated place . Hot and humid environments can cause mold and deterioration of the coating. Dry in the shade before storing to prevent moisture from building up.

BICYCOVER bicycle covers are already highly waterproof and water-repellent, but by taking care of them in this way, you can use them for a longer period of time and with even more comfort. Please try regular maintenance to ensure that your precious bicycle is well protected.
